Glady's Miriam Paratene
Gladys Miriam Paratene:
Born: 25th July 1923 Manukau, Tamaki Makaurau.
Northland Age 19th July 1935.
Through being run over by a motor truck, driven by Mr. D. Urlich, Gladys Miriam, the 13 year old daughter of Mita Paratene of Ahipara, was killed at Ahipara at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The girl, with a number of other natives, was returning from a dance in the Roma hall, when she apparently slipped off the truck and the rear left wheels passed over her head and neck, death being instantaneous. The body was immediately brought in to the County Memorial Hospital and the police notified of the accident.
An inquest was held yesterday afternoon before the distict coroner, Mr. L. A. McIntosh, but after Const. Thornell had given evidence of identification, the inquest was adjourned sine die.
Died 18th July 1935 lays in state at Pukemiro urupa Ahipara Kaitaia.
