Sidney Paratene was born on the 27th March 1919 in England.
He served in the 28th Maori Battalion as a private and entered camp on the 26th January 1940. On enlisting he was 20 years and nine mths old of dark complexion, brown eyes and height of 5' 8''.
Occupation previously to enlistment farmer at Ahipara. He served 299 days here in New Zealand, 3 years 73 days overseas in Egypt a service of 4 years 242 days. He was discharged on the 24th July 1946.
Sidney had no issue and sadly drowned in Auckland and was found by the sugar factory in the Waitemata harbour on the 1st September 1955.
